Impact of Cultivation Practices and Varieties on Productivity, Profitability, and Nutrient Uptake of Rice (Oryza sativa L.) and Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Cropping System in India

Interest in conservation measures, including reduced tillage, zero and crop residue retention, is growing major rice areas of the world; particularly Indo-Gangetic plains. Of late, research interest increasing India for a specialised method cultivation known as natural farming, which aims at maintain functional biodiversity farm with little or no use external inputs. With water crisis global level, it became imperative to develop technologies that can reduce use, water-guzzling low land paddy, by developing alternate methods; direct seeded one such technology. A two-year field experiment was carried out two locations during 2019–2020 2020–2021 find impact different varieties on productivity profitability rice–wheat cropping system. The experiments were conducted split plot design, replicated thrice, practices main both wheat sub plot. results so obtained reveal conventional tillage significantly yielded other methods crops locations, while lower grain yield observed from farming. Adoption farming 4.6%, 10.9%, 59.4% over corresponding decline 10.8%, 16.1%, 34.0% respectively. Among tested, HPW 368 Him Palam Lal Dhan 1 (HPR 2795) produced higher rice, respectively, years. Conventional among also proved be better terms various economic indicators, gross return, net ratio benefit cost (B:C ratio).
